No one provided me with a Word-of-The-Day calendar for Christmas, so I’m on my own in 2008 when it comes to new entires for Wordplay posts. Here’s the first of the New Year:
Defined, the word osculation means either 1. in geometry, to come into close contact with – particularly at the point where two curves touch or join; or 2. closely adhering or joined; embracing; to kiss (from the term “osculans,” which means “kiss” in Latin).
“The osculation proceeded from her ear to her neck and, ultimately, to her hip – leaving her quite breathless.”
